Heat-muted days remembered-
the way the dust clung
to our skin as we ran across
the fields to Glimmerglass Lake;
the water oaks along its edge,
sentinels to days gone by,
our pillared wall against
what change may come;
the crackel of heat lightening
in the distance promised
rain that never fell.
Everything clung-
the air-
the strands of hair
against my neck-
the work-worn cotton
shirt you wore, as we
peeled [...]

Even Heaven Need Weep

weep for me, heaven
silence aching moon and stars
both shine too brightly
Eryngo

Lend your lips,
brushed ever long,
as Hesperus recalls.
Questing journey
onward pressed-
inhibition falls.
Whispered breath
against the rise
and fall of trembling need.
Stoke this ceaseless,
raging fire,
flames on which we feed.
Burning inability
to sip desire slow.
Kisses seasoned
with the taste
of spicy eryngo.
Pour yourself
inside my skin,
let our need prevail.
Lift me, eider, on this wind-
heart and heat impale.
Trace a path
across my flesh
when rampant pulses still.
Can we [...]
Come Fire or Ash

Distant temple bells,
their fluid resonation,
echo in the heart.
Urging me to prayer.
whispered sorrow lifted on
golden, dust mote wings.
Repeated mantra,
bears sure witness to belief,
tranquil inner faith.
Guarding sacred fires,
ceremonies of the soul,
eternally kept.

Onslaught, rising doubt,
wind defies serenity,
as I fan the flames.
Tears caught in my throat
as raging thunder trembles,
demanding payment.
Shivering with cold,
left to tend a dying fire,
threatening to fail.
All [...]
Dancing In the Temple

I tuck these passing days behind my ear,
allusive strands of light that float on air.
Those silken tendrils twining through the year
attaching to what dreams the heart can bare.
I vow to strip away what comes between
this belly-thrumming call and what might be-
staid underpinning shed are finally seen,
with soft risqué I cut their bindings free.
Unbound, unkempt, unbridled [...]
Forsaking Light

No reason left for patience, wait and see-
cross purposes that run without concord.
aborted truths that, once infused with life,
lie dusty and disheveled, dimly viewed
through glass whose rosy hue
adds lesser light than eyes with
perfect faith, beatific sight.
These wrested wings for flight no longer strive.
the sun a wish that Icarus might claim.
Alone for him, resistance to be [...]

reflected light shines
in my heart’s untended well;
moon and stars consumed.
On Task

Fresh artichokes
at Clancy’s Market today-
I sever tops and stems,
snip each pointed leaf,
lemon and garlic mulled
over… considering.
Mundane tasks
surround the sacred-
heart beats…
and beats…
still beats.
Renascence

In numberless forms,
times without measure,
I have loved you.
Life after life,
age after age,
oaths sworn binding us-
Anam Cara.
Your seal pressed
upon my heart,
flesh and breath,
incidental both
to spirit cast on universal wings,
then taken home.
Threads of light
bind us as they free,
evanescent frames of thought
divert the soul
from latitudes of grace.
We have floated here
in timeless space together;
you and I exist
in the font [...]
Altars Kept

Waiting here as darkness
paints the afternoon with fog-
distant banks roll close,
drenching mist and thoughts of you.
Funny how my heart still pounds,
goose-fleshed skin still feels your fingers
tracing inroads to my heart…
Welcome home, you said, and God, I was.
In that still, quiet place
we built our sanctuary,
clothed in veils of love, of heart.
I’m blanketed in muffling clouds of [...]
