Between this place of dreaming and awake,
betwixt what might have been and what will be
there lies a place where love need not forsake
the waves inherent knowledge of the sea.
In still warm sand, midnight sky above me,
clouds scutt like God’s own breath before the moon,
while spirit, free of form, wings outward toward thee

Sunlight spills and pools on
my grandmother’s patchwork quilt
through the thin, embroidered
curtains in my room.
I step into the day…
opening doors and windows,
drawing in the morning air,
cool off the ocean,
feeding cats and kittens on the deck,
squeezing juice and sipping as I write
what spills and flows,
feeling it come, letting it go,
lulled by errant phrasing as I stir
dusky berries [...]

Sing the song
against my ear
of wind and falling waves,
of coming home.
Echo through the heart
each rise and fall,
call to me where dreams
and visions roam.
Swell and press your
soul within my own,
thrumming belly-deep,
your seal engrave.
Ride the tides
that climax and receed-
buoyant on the crest
of every wave.
Seep into my thoughts
with all you are
as shadows stretch
and lengthen on the sand.
