In the purple hush of twilight,
in the place between day and night,
when the heavens thrum
to a sacred drum
and the wings of the heart take flight…
there on the edge of the canyon,
through the pines at its northern rim,
with a perfect grace
on my upturned face

You weave thru every barren plain
that spreads unyielding, beyond sight-
silver veins of iridescent light.
Reflections snake, and then coil back,
winding out and splaying through
each ridge of reconciled belief-
molten liquid brilliant in the dust.
I am, you said, the birthplace of your heart,
immersed and swaddled, cradled in your Nile-
the whole and holy shrine of waiting’s end
where truth refused [...]

There is a recluse soul resides within
that shuns the frantic workings of the day.
The world is too much with me on the whole,
I long for time alone- would steal away
from every earth-bound hope and mislaid dream,
apart from lovers known and those denied.
In solitude to rock, and rock again-
keep Silence as a friend, all else aside-
