Under the Arbour

I tip toe through the days
as each one falls
and mark them spent,
they’ll never come again.
Forward facing
holding every breath
on tangled trails where
light is barely shed.
Sanctuary calls
it leads me on,
toward shrines that mark
the turning of the year,
where memory shines,
illuminates each step
to where I kneel
and reverently recall.
Each altar dressed
and tenderly maintained,
untouched until
I find my way back home-

here is a certain cool when daylight fades,
a sweetness I can taste on lip and tongue.
The jasmine’s flagrant bloom I hold to blame,
adorned with jewels- the stars of twilight hung.
I cherish every tendril-lifting breath
that whispers. Shivers fall on fevered skin
as salt-drenched spray of ocean arms invite-
a welcoming embrace…yes, ,enter in.

sunlight spills
absorb the heat
stroke the earth
with unbound feet
leaves decayed
dampened ground
lulled by Gaea’s song
spellbound
branches sway
soft green seas
humbled
driven to my knees
pressed
to sweet
to swollen earth
surrender self
soul rebirth
circles turning
sorrow dies
witnessed beauty
laughing eyes
jasmine scenting
unleashed skin
denying life
the only sin
heart unfettered
wheeling free
embracing life’s
fertility
belly deep
embodiment
of all that’s lived
and voiced and meant-
by a spring day.
